Semcon has received yet another order from FMV valued at SEK 6 million with an option for a further SEK 11 million. The order is for 12 specially developed composite containers assigned for use by the Swedish Armed Forces’ task force.
Semcon is responsible for developing, testing, certification, documentation and calculating the multi-functional composite containers. “We’ve worked with FMV since 2000 and are extremely pleased of the trust they place in us. The containers we develop contain complex, advanced technology and we’re looking forward to continuing being at the forefront of the Armed Forces’ continued development,” says Peter M Nilsson, Area Manager at Semcon in Karlskrona.
The multi-functional containers have a wide area of use, including use as workshops, document storage units, medical facilities, storage units and provisions containers and have been developed and designed for technical and safety use. They’ve also been used as field operating theatres, which places rigorous demands. There are two different standard models that, through different options can be customized according to the client’s needs. Composite containers are very complex with many functions, like EMC protection, heating and cooling, electrical distribution box and Ro-Ro frame to facilitate transportation.
FMV ordered the first specially adapted containers from Semcon almost 10 years ago and so far almost 180 containers worth SEK 90 million have been supplied. The containers have a wide area of use including coordination centres, workshops, medical facilities, storage units, document storage units and provisions containers. Some are currently being used by the Swedish task forces in Congo, Chad, Afghanistan, Kosovo and Somalia.
